Once every quater, my boss has to work a week of night shifts. I don't know why, but I heard a rumor that his annual raise is at stake is he doesn't. Anyway, this week is that week. The way we're staffed, every time he works a week of nights, one person works with him twice. This time I'm up.
Working with G is not, as everyone likes to pretend, difficult. He's friendly and chatty and just as much a gossiper as any of us. The only difference is that he's very busy. At night, the main job is to be a warm body present in case something happens. During the day, there is always something happening to keep you on your toes. For G, this switch is nearly impossible to handle.
Last night, he managed to buff the floors twice, stock the cooler every 10 minutes, help me clean one of the ovens, swept and mopped MY floors, took out all the garbages, brought in the washer fluid buckets, flushed the cappucino maker, break down the soda fountain...all while I'm looking at hime like, "DUDE. YOU ARE MAKING ME DIZZY." Anyway, he claims that tonight will be a much slower night and we'll "take it easy."
I am skeptical.
And also a little bummed that I haven't been able to participate much in this year's Project For Awesome. I've rated and favorited a couple videos, and commented a handful of times, but in past years I was able to rate and comment and favorite for almost the entire event. Ah well. Next year for certain!
