Lately all I've really been doing is writing and playing the Sims and watching SHAYTARDS (all caps is how you type it, I'm not yelling) on YouTube. Mostly that third thing, because they are funny.
Today, however, I buckled down and tried to get a fair amount of writing done. I've fallen behind on the daily schedule, but I'm making it up (I've vowed to be at 45,000 by 5pm tomorrow). I was only mildly distracted by my sims asylum running in the background.
See, when you play a sims asylum the way I do, you get one character that you can command to do a limited number of things. They can pay bills, repair things and manage a garden. Beyond that, all sims are responsible for themselves. The goal is to start with at least 8 sims (in my case there were 9 to start), and whoever lives longest wins a life out in the "real" world. The 9 sims I chose were a random controllable and the eight characters of my NaNo that I simmed. I had to move the boys (and Kelly) out when the other four girls got pregnant (heh...ACR...oops) but decided to let the babies be contestants. Everyone almost died when the babies were born because they were obsessed with feeding them while starving themselves.
Actually, Amber DID die while making grilled cheese, but I had Chad (who hadn't moved out yet) plead for her, since she hadn't had her baby yet.
ANYWAY, it was kind of boring because once the babies grew into children everyone went back to normal. Until today. I was busy typing away when I decided to check on things.
I swapped over just in time to watch Patrick (son of Andrea and Kelly...ACR again) starving to death just as he was about to eat his burnt spaghetti. I felt a little bad, since he was still a teen, but asylum rules says no pleading unless the sim is pregnant. So he died.
Then two of my kids, Alice and Samuel grew into adults and fell in love. I loved them too much to watch them die, so I moved them out. Then Andrea died (broken heart?) and now I'm down to five patients.
Assyria is an elder, and my controllable. She digs gardening.
Amber is my NaNo antagonist and has bounced back after her near death experience, though sometimes still forgets to eat.
Emily is my NaNo protagonist and really doesn't have any problems other than a tendency to get the flu all the time.
Jenny is Emily's BFF in canon, and she mostly passes out in the bathroom and makes grilled cheese 6 times a day.
Mitchell is Amber's son, and I kind of hate him, which is why he's never in any kind of motive or aspiration failure. Jerk.
ANNNNNDDD that's what I did with MY day! Can you feel the dollars in my bank account adding up? I totes can, man. Totes.

Lol. I've never actually played the Sims but it sounds like fun. Well, I guess anything where you get to play God would be fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's both fun and frustrating, because it's easy to forget that they don't have any actual intelligence, and you're like "UGH! WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID?!" When they keep whining about the wanting same things over and over.
ReplyDeleteActually...I bet that's not too far off reality... >_>
