Step 59: Accept the Inevitable

It's Thanksgiving here in the U.S., and that means it time for everyone to stop and think about all the things they have that make their lives pretty awesome.

Now, I'm one to believe that even in the most dire of circumstances, one can find SOMETHING they are grateful for, even if it's nothing more than the breath they draw. But I'm really very optimistic; an asset and a flaw, you could say.

I tend to be grateful all the big things (Mommy, home, the Internet) daily, and so on Thanksgiving, I think it's fun to take it down to a level of silliness and be thankful for things you literally don't ever think about. Here's my list:

1. The caps to my tea bottles. They're the kind that pop up when you open the bottle, and they're fun to play with when I'm not typing.

2. The slurping sound the pop machine at work makes when you dump a pot of coffee down it. It's a very satisfying sound.

3. Tripping up the stairs. First, it makes you laugh at yourself, and second, if you're moving up the stairs fast enough to trip, there must be something exciting happening at the top of them!

4. The word "phenomenon." Because it reminds me of the Sesame Street song "Menah Menah." Also, Menomonie, WI for the same reason.

5. LOLCATS. Who doesn't love a good lolcat?

Anyway, my Thanksgiving was lovely. We had two guests and lots of really excellent food. I just got back from my Black Friday shopping, which was fun and also not as expensive as it could have been. I got my hair done, but my mom loaned me that money so I could fix the Halloween pink before our family comes in a week.
