For reasons that aren't important, I stayed up all night. Mostly I was playing the Sims 2, chatting, and bumming around the internet...actually that's entirely what I was doing, heh. Anyway, around about 5:30 am I heard shufflings from upstairs that let me know my mom was awake. I went up to say hello.
She, having not had her coffee yet, wasn't especially chatty. I sat quietly on the couch for about a half hour, and then it dawned on me that my Place of Employment makes fresh donuts every morning, and that they were opening right at that moment, and if I went right then, I would get to finally taste one of these legendary Fresh Donuts.
So I went. When I got there, asdide from both G and M being OMGSHOCKED to see me at that hour, until they learned that rather than being up really early, I was up really late. (I am notoriously NOT a morning person.) M was making donuts, and made up three for my mom and me, mine cake donuts with chocolate icing and peanuts, Mom's cake donuts with cream cheese icing. She put them in a box. I paid for them. I took them home.
I setthe box down in front of my mom, opened it, and took out a donut. It was still warm to the touch. And the icing was a little gooey still.
I took a bite.
It was the single most amazing confectionary treat I have ever had in my entire existence. The warmth, and the flavor, and the crispy then soft texture...just. Wow.
And that was my day. Because I went to bed. And slept until Mom got home from work.
