Step 35: Witness the Selling of a Soul

Today was boring, except for this one quick story.

Guy came in while I was working and wanted a pack of Marlboro Reds and a $1 scratch off ticket.

This guy comes in ALL the time, and he is always completely drunk. Usually stumbling, slurring, slightly belligerent. The general rule of the store is "get him in and out as quickly as possble."

Tonight, he wasn't the angry drunk, he was the overly emotional, saying things that don't make sense drunk.

As I'm handing him his scratch ticket, he goes "If I don't win, the Devil owes me my soul back...but if I win, ha ha! (singing) The Devil, he owns my soulll..."

Me: "Heh. Your total is $6.66."

Him: O_O

Me: :)

Him: O______O

Me: Did you need anything else?

Him: Uh-uh. O_________O *hands cash*

I gave him his change, and he walked out of the store. He called the store a few minutes later.

"Hey, I just bought the scratch ticket...I haven't scratched it yet...ANYWAY, I might have scared you in there, sorry about that."

"That's okay. Have a good evening."

"Thanks. You too, be good."

Dude, -I- don't have any reason to be scared. YOU just sold your soul for a scratch ticket.

I hope it was a loser, for his sake.
